I got this motion activated flood light thing at Home Depot for $9.95

Below is the circuit board after I took it apart.

This is the wiring that I used to connect the new SPST (Single Pole Single Throw) relay to the back of the motion detector board.  As you can see, the pins on the new relay match up with the arrows I drew on the board.

     The DVR traces note above/right is located where the "Play" button was on the DVR.  I simply lifted up the tabs that held the "play" button in place then removed it.  I then drilled very small hole in the board in order to attach and solder the wires.

Now, when the motion detector is activated (in test mode) it activates the flood lights and the DVR.


Here's the finished project.

I know it's not pretty, but it works!
